  1. Truth hurts, don’t it biatch? They don’t like it when folks see right through them.

Let’s keep borrowing money from China to bail out other countries who never pay us back (in fact, China itself was such a country–our tax dollars pulled them out of the stone age), and entangling ourselves in wars we have no business in that will replace one whack job dictator with another. You think the Chinese will forget about our debt the way we forgot about theirs (and everyone else’s) to us?

  2. I saw one website that mockingly called them “infobabes”. They are dressed like they are going to a kids birthday party or something. What a airhead comment about US led wars and the US economy not being linked. ASSHOLE! HEY, ASSHOLE! WTF, ASSHOLE!!! I’ve seen that same CIA dude go off script in the past, he’s pretty good. The really sick thing is that all these peace loving liberals suddenly support dropping bombs on brown people they’ve never met, just as long as it’s democrat in the White House doing it. Really disgusting stuff. I also love the false choice that CNN presents Americans with: Support Al Qeada terrorists or support Gaddafi, like its a either/or decision. The last thing they want to talk about is door number three, non-intervention in foreign entanglements.

Having actually fought in wars, I’m not necessarily anti-war however, I am anti-stupid.

  3. Awesome, just awesome.

I’m conflicted about the whole Libya thing. No one likes to see a revolution of the young and bright-eyed get cut apart under a hail of artillery shells, bombs, and tank cannons, but at the same time…yeah, this looks bad.

I guess the way I look at it is, in a perfect world, there would be nothing wrong with using military power to support an honest and sincere UN resolution to defend civilians who are looking to take control of their own government against a known military thug of a leader.

Unfortunately, it’s not a perfect world, and there are too many layers of plot and counter-plot going on for this to end well.

Honestly, this is why I still think the UN should have a “real” peacekeeping force, made up from a number of countries all around the world, and funded equally by a large number of countries. Would it fix the problem? Probably not, but at least it would make the whole “US again acting as a faux UN triggerman” schtick go away to some degree.

    Maybe…

  4. I will hold back from going on a rant about the UN (for now) but they did try to pass a resolution regarding Libya and pretty much every country abstained from it. So the whole “coalition of the willing” is pretty much BS. Like Scheuler says, that might fool Americans but the rest of the world knows what the deal is. It must be a strange day to be a jihadi fighter where the US is dropping bombs on you in Afghanistan but than flying air support for you the next day in Libya. Gaddafi is a evil dude who has been funding vicious wars throughout sub-saharan Africa. For instance, he helped fund the RUF in Sierra Leone via Charles Taylor of Liberia, using him as a cut out. I hate Gaddafi and I hate Islamic fundamentalism but I don’t see what the US has to gain through this action.

  5. Trust me, I’m not trying to defend the UN, especially how it is handled (and has been handled in the past). I don’t see a problem with a UN-like body existing in the world, I just think what we have is useless now.

This is where the humanitarian idealist in me conflicts with the jaded asshole occupying the same space…

  6. Yeah, I feel you. It would be great to have some body of International Do-Gooders preventing genocides from happening. Unfortunately, this is where government in theory collides with government in practice. Our state and federal governments pretty much screw up every task they are charged with and get into issues way outside their purview. Frankly, those morons are no where near qualified to play “world cop”. Did you know that only a third of the members of congress even have passports? Seriously, they are clueless about how things work in the real world.
